A leading family business in transport & forwarding
Founded in 1976 in Malta
Origins and history of Attrans Transport Group
In 1976, Philip Attard Senior founded Attrans Ltd. in Malta. He was one of the first Maltese to commercialize road transport via ferry to the mainland. Today, the Attrans Transport Group consists of four divisions: Attrans Ltd. (Malta), Attrans BV (Netherlands), Attrans Italia SRL (Italy), and Attrans North Africa BV (Netherlands).
A true family business
Mr. Attard started as a sole trader importing machines and vehicles from the UK. He drove them by truck to southern Italy and transported them on the only available roll-on/roll-off service to Malta. After a few trips, other importers approached him to transport their cargo from the UK and northern Italy to Malta. Shortly thereafter, Attrans Ltd. was formed as a 100% Maltese transport company and remains a family business to this day. Between 30 and 40 trailers are transported weekly from Europe to Malta.
International transport company
Since then, the company has developed into a full-fledged international transport company with an international workforce. Operating in Malta and abroad, such as Italy and the Netherlands, with agencies in North Africa, France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, and Portugal. Many have been associated with the company for many years.
Attrans North Africa Transport BV
To address developments and growth in North Africa professionally, a new company was established in the Netherlands in 2012 named Attrans North Africa Transport BV. Since mid-October 2012, it has been fully operational and is located in a beautiful building in Hazeldonk on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium (right next to the customs building). Two employees with over 20 years of experience in North Africa lead this new addition to Attrans.
